Artist's Description

Luis Melendez is regarded as one of the masters of Spanish Still Life of all times. Melendez, used every day objects that had a practical use along with fruits, fish, cheese and other common edibles. Melendez did not use lemons, this is definitely a Dutch detail that often appear in XVII Century Dutch Still Lifes. Lemons were used to mix with wine to decrease the alcohol content so they thought, I chose to add the lemon to provide a balancing color point. I
This image has been inspired by some of his masterpieces", specifically "Bodegon with watermelon, apples and a landscape" (1771) and "Bodegon with Melon and Pears".
